I guess I have found a new thing to keep my mind away from Gwynn.
I had an interesting comment yesterday asking if I was the highest stat’d Aphrodite on the NA server. I don’t actually know 😉 I’ve only seen about 3 other Aphrodite’s at rank X, but they do have higher kills, but I have the highest assists (14k at time of writing). I do think it comes down to philosophy. Me and Elfy believe as Aphrodite it’s “heals before kills” (like bro’s before hoe’s kinda thing :P). So a 0/0/20 win is still a good game for me.
I just signed up to TierMonster yesterday, and wow so much stats. Elfy was going to code me up a page, but looks like I got everything and even more at this TierMonster thing! Main thing of interest:
Aphrodite:
KDR (Kill Death Ratio): 0.85
This means that in general Aphro dies more than she kills (across the whole game), at 0.85 ratio. I’m actually doing better than that, aiming at 1:1 for most games.
I am however deciding between a few items after reviewing all my items. And with the new non-autobuy, I have started making notes again (I didn’t before) on what my builds are.
EU’s Guide to Aphrodite might have to go up on Tiermonster 🙂
Current build template:
Starter:
- Vampiric Shroud – conq
Core:
- Shoes of focus
- Book of Thoth
- Rod of Tahuti
Damage:
- Chronos Pendant
- Spear of the Magus
- Bancroft’s Talon
- Gem of Isolation
Defense
- Breastplate of valor
- Rod of Asclepius
- Warlock’s Sash
- Ethereal Staff
Buy order in arena – the EvilUnicorn (“pro” build – standard offense mode)
- Chronos Pendant [cooldown/mp5 + power]
– This gives MP5 and some level of sustainability (at cost of speed) if some other person gets the blue (accidental or otherwise)
– The mark to play for is to stay out there as long as you can to 1800 cash (finish off Chronos) hopefully at about level 5 as well. - Shoes of Focus [cooldown]
– This comes in next, standard speed to move around and finish off the CDR. In Arena, CDR is essential. Every Aphrodite pro runs that too – confirmed.
- Book of Thoth [counters/mp5 + power]
– This item both ensures you never need that blue again (Yes, Ao, you can have the rest).+125 power at full storm, and clocks up enough.
- Spear of the Magus [penetrate/debuff +power ]
– This is an unusual gem that I found (thanks to GravityWon). The debuff is actually quite savage, with the birds
– 20% debuff AND -20 on top.. + penetrate. Those birds really hurt hard after this. I used to run Obsidian Shard for straight 33%, but this tops up with +power. - Rod of Tahuti [raw power]
– Once I get this in place, the counters from Book of Thoth should already be well underway. Once it gets to 75 counters, it’s not unusual to see Aphrodite with 600+ power.. esp with the final piece
- Bancroft’s Talon [cap off damage]
– This slot is arguably open, but I run Bancroft’s Talon. Late game, everyone gets injured.. and you will be the target at times. This means while they’re hurting you.. your attacks do more back (yes, you Loki or anyone that chases). A ‘birds’ might end up killing the opponent while you’re getting out of there ‘backing off’ (yes, pun?)
I know there’s probably going to be other more resilient builds out there (hence my other items), but this seemed to work for me best.
For slightly less ‘pro/risky’ build:
– Chronos Pendant -> Breast plate of Valor (slot 2)
This gives you some defense against those assassins and stuff. More resilient, but less explosive at the end
– Book of Thoth -> Rod of Asclepius (slot 3, or 4 if you wish to throw the next one in first)
This gives you +movement and +heals. Your heals should be like 20+k for just ‘normal healing’ with this. You should outheal just about every other healer.
– Book of Thoth -> Warlock’s Sash (slot 3)
This gives you more tankyness with the breastplate of valor. More hp, more mana.
EU’s Arena/pro build:
- Chronos’s Pendant
- Shoes of Focus
- Book of Thoth
- Spear of the Magus
- Rod of Tahuti
- Bancroft’s Talon
Low armor, good lategame.
Full heal: (Recommended for starting out)
- Shoes of Focus
- Chronos’s Pendant
- Rod of Asclepius
- Book of Thoth
- Rod of Tahuti
- Bancroft’s Talon
Yes, the Thoth is late, but you’re not after the damage/power. It WILL still clock up to 75 if played right.
Tanky heal:
- Shoes of Focus
- Breastplate of Valor
- Rod of Asclepius
- Warlock’s Sash
- Rod of Tahuti
- Ethereal Staff
